Yes I chose that intentionally. Maybe it wonβt top the bestseller charts. Maybe it wonβt fit the performance the market rewards, but itβs real. And Iβd rather show up as myself than shrink into a persona that converts better.
Exactly correct! The problem is that this isnβt a problem for the boys to think about unless they feel like it. People arenβt punishing them for improper behavior and impersonating women online for fun. And the louder we get about our femininity and identities in these spaces, the more it seems to get ignored. The death of many DEI regulations started with this. It needs to end.
I wonder what will be the results if the same experiment happened for changing from a black, brown, or Asian male versus a white male. I posit that the results will be similar.
Thank you for liking the post. Also, we are sorta namesakes? And you like film too? Cool beans. Tilly Norwood was featured on a recent segment on CBS Sunday Morning and I was impressed by how audacious even other women are (the founder of the company responsible for Tilly is Eline Van der Velden, a Dutch actress) in telling us that we are expendable.
Yes I love movies, π my background is in film, though I studied it a long time ago. I was surprised to read that the creator of Tilly is a woman (maybe that was my own bias, I would have bet it was a man) but like you said, we are playing this unfortunate game too.
A very great cross analysis of AI and the social construct of women! You discuss performing to survive, which (unfortunately) i agree. However, how do you nurture your authenticity as a woman in all aspects while playing the game to survive? Especially when the βrulesβ are ever changing and survival tactics can quickly become βoutdatedβ
Wow! Fascinating post! Sadly, I'm not surprised. Yet, it is deeply troubling. I was especially struck by these lines,
"What I have is this: We built a world where being yourself is economically irrational. Where men make more money creating fake women than most real women make being themselves."
Thanks for informing us with your substantive research and analysis.
Wow. Okay. Deep breaths.
AI Meets Girlboss is a pink, feminine brand in a space that rewards male-coded voices. π©·π¦© A space where the bestsellers are 90% male.

Great post, algorithms are multiplying systemic inequities and LinkedIn makes it very clear.
By the way, I wrote about Tilly Norwood as well and how her creation is related to gender bias.

Same way our mothers, aunts, sisters and ancestors did: flipping the table and forcing change by any means necessary ;)

Itβs an interesting feeling for sure, and I hope more men and women think about this in the future.
Fascinating read!
Thank you kindly!
